IN THEIR WORDS

“We met at one of Hampton Roads’ local bars. He was there with a friend on vacation, and I caught him staring at me. I was feeling very confident at the time (I’m sure that the alcohol had something to do with it). I marched up to him and said, ‘You look like you want to pay attention to me.’ That was October 10, 2010.

“We had planned a trip to London, and I had the bright idea to take a day trip to Amsterdam, his favorite city, and surprise him. Once we got there, I realized I had no idea where to propose in this unknown city. On the recommendation of a local bartender, we made our way to Dam Square. With about thousand people watching, I became a blithering mess. Josh thought I was having a heart attack, but once I got down on my knee, he figured it out.

“Our wedding day was on the fifth anniversary of the day we met. The Holiday Inn was an amazing venue. Our wedding was held in the magnificent Visa Del Mare room on the sixth floor with sweeping views of the ocean The food was on point, the day was beautiful, and everything was a blur of laughter, singing, crying and smiles. ”
