I am a longtime advocate for same-sex marriage rights, and I know that LGBTQ weddings are especially meaningful given that same-sex couples were denied that right for so long. So, ladies and gentleman, let’s do it!

Things to think about:
o Would you like to use Christian liturgy? Would you like to use it with modifications? Using words that have been said for generations can be a powerful statement of inclusion. It can be religious, using the customs of your faith tradition or spiritual, focusing on your love and commitment to each other.
o Your rings: If you are currently wearing rings signifying your commitment, think about keeping them, exchanging them with your soon-to-be-spouse, or modifying your rings in some way
o Would you like to include your guests in the ceremony? During the blessing a laying on of hands is a sign that everyone supports your marriage and your new life together.
o Include some non-traditional elements: sign your wedding license as part of the ceremony, include handfasting, drink wine from a common cup, or tie a knot.
Remember that this is your wedding ceremony! I will tell your story, and we will make it uniquely yours!
